Answer: Role of information and technology in restaurants Villa 39 is a five start restaurant situated in the Colaba area in Mumbai. It has created a brand for itself and it needs to use its business demographics effectively to expand well and attract new customers. The main aspect to be discussed here is communication. The restaurant needs to communicate properly with its employees as well as its prospective clients. Utilizing the latest CRM techniques and communication networks in the restaurants can help in staying in touch with each and every staff. There are various online and wireless technologies coming up that the restaurant can adopt to reach out to their customers and have proper communication with their staff. Business Demographics This is one area where communication and information technology plays a key role. Villa 39 should adopt a proper communication technique for differentiating its product and make their restaurant visible to the local customers. Being located in the posh Colaba area of Mumbai they can surely expect to build a nice consumer base that would help in building a strong and effective business demographics. The restaurant can build a nice online system through their website where the customers can make pre-booking. They can also use this communication system to order the food for their house parties. It would help the restaurant in expanding their business well. Organizational culture and ethics There are people from different cultures and ethnic group involved in the restaurant. The company should not have any barriers for people coming from different backgrounds. They need to communicate effective requirements to the employees and help them grow while they work in the restaurant. One of the top priorities today is that every member of the restaurant should have strong English spoken skills. Even while the restaurant conducts interviews before employing them they should conduct their communication skills. Using a wireless technology like various wireless devices would help the staff co-ordinate with the other employees. Generally when there is no empty space in the restaurant or pre-bookings made then this wireless communicating system would help the managers and waiters stay informed and respond to the customers. This can be a simple mobile phone or any other device. These days various restaurants have started using iPads instead of menus. Though it can be expensive but it would make it easier for the customers to order the food they like and improve the standards of the restaurant. Conclusion Villa 39 has been using effective communication skill sets from top management to the lower level employees. In such a workplace having such a vast community of people it is very important to use upgraded information technology and fluent communication among everyone involved in the organization. Using the IT and communication techniques mentioned above one can upgrade the communication flow within the restaurant and improve the standards within the organization.
